Genius.com
Genius.com is the World’s biggest collection of musical knowledge. This is not just a lyrics website, as they also are sharing the news and acting as social media.
Genius first started as a crowdsourced hip-hop focused site in the summer of 2019, and its first name was Rap Exegesis. The site changed its name to Rap Genius in the winter of 2009 because “exegesis” was difficult for users to spell. Originally founded by Tom Lehman, Ilan Zechory and Mahbod Moghadam friends from Yale University; the site allows users to provide annotations and interpretation of song lyrics, news stories, sources, poetry, and documents. After drawing over 1 million unique visitors per month, venture capitalists invested in the company and company’s 3 co-founders were named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 in December 2012. Then the site expanded to cover other forms of media, such as pop, literature, R&B; and re-launched as “Genius” in July 2014. In the following years the company began producing music-focused original video content and hosting live events and concerts. Today the growing content becomes more and more interesting every day. Genius is unstoppable.
